The Emily Morgan Hotel is a historic and beautiful hotel, located downtown in the heart of the San Antonio Riverwalk area. Hotel is the Official Hotel of the Alamo, which is located directly across the street. (Literally, only a few steps to the Alamo).
435th OMS Enroute Reunion Kick-Off
The October 2013 reunion for 435th OMS Enrouters is off to a roaring start. Reunion coordinators have been able to book the Emily Morgan Hotel, right across the street from the Alamo. Virtually every room has a great view of the Alamo grounds and/or the San Antonio skyline. The famed Riverwalk is a short two blocks away, as is the RiverCenter Mall. Scenic carriage rides are across the street from the hotel entrance. As realtors always tell you; Location, Location, Location!
Single or double occupancy rooms are priced at $95/night, which, incidentally, was the lowest price offered by any of the many hotel bids. A full American breakfast or a large breakfast buffet is included. There will be complimentary wi-fi services in all meeting rooms and guest rooms. If you drive to the reunion, there will be a daily discounted parking fee of $13 per day, but it is all valet parking with in/out privileges. Every hotel is now charging a parking fee, even the “budget” chains like Hampton Inn.
HOTEL PARKING
Just pull up to the main entrance, which is on the side of the hotel toward the Alamo, and the valet guys take it from there.
Obtain a parking ticket from the valet guys and it will be added to your room charge each day. (Floyd Johnson - Reunion Host)
Our reunion will have a huge hospitality room assigned exclusively to our reunion, 24 hours a day for Wednesday thru Saturday, 9-12 October. The best part is we are officially authorized to bring in our own snacks and beverages. The hotel will replenish ice in the hospitality room up to three times a day.
Emily Morgan Hotel will allow reunion prices for three days before and for three days after the reunion (7-16 Oct 2013), so think about enjoying San Antonio hospitality for an additional vacation in conjunction with the reunion. Mr. Johnson & Mr. Brown (Reunion Hosts) spoke to our hotel folks today.
We only initially requested 40 rooms. Looking at the list of names we already have
planning to attend the reunion, we are not going to have enough rooms.
The hotel sales manager informed our reunion hosts, they need our folks to
either go online or call the hotel and make your room reservations.
Until they have 40 actual reservations for our reunion, they won’t be able to
give us additional rooms. (Be sure to tell them, you are with the
435th OMS Enroute Reunion, 10-13 Oct 2013).
If we can’t increase the amount of rooms, if a larger group comes in, then we
could have some difficulty in obtaining more rooms.
From the Hotel Sales Manager:
Please inform your members to start actually making their hotel reservations.
Many times guests think they will be charged when making the reservation.
This is not so, we simply ask for a credit card or debit card to guarantee the
reservation. We do not actually charge for the room until departure.
Now with that said, if the guests reserve a room and guarantee the room and
do not call to cancel 48 hours prior, then they will be charged a no-show fee
of one night room and tax. This is wonderful that you are getting this early
of response.

Deborah makes a strong case for making reunion hotel reservations right now.
People can cancel up to 48 hours before arrival and not be charged.
However, if they wait to make reservations, we might fill the 40 rooms we have set aside and find out we cannot get additional rooms. That's a good point to get out on the web site and on an e-blast. The special web site is really simple for reservations.
Other attractions: Sea World, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio Zoo, The Alamodome, San Antonio Spurs basketball, and hundreds more. Plan your vacation around the reunion.
The following are some of the events being planned for all of us to enjoy while attending the reunion. Many more events will be posted, so be sure to check back with us for additional details.
1.) Trip to Lackland AFB to meet recruits, possibly for lunch or graduation on Friday.
2.) One or two reserved boats for the Riverwalk tour (reserved tours are longer)
3.) A lunch or dinner of hamburgers & hot dogs etc. at the Riverwalk VFW (complimentary?)
4.) A meal at Mi Tierra restaurant with a visit to El Mercado (great Mexican specialties market in two buildings).
5.) A visit to the Alamo Diorama next door to the hotel which is a large (8' X 8'?) scale model of the Alamo that has points of interest spotlighted as they tell the story of the Alamo (best done individually in small groups because the place is very small).
Those who are interested can step across the street any time and take the carriage ride around downtown or walk over to the Tower of the Americas. A great web site for them to look at (we'll include it in our next input) is:
