Chet Headley, from St. Joseph's parish in Cuyahoga Falls, a member of our class during our freshman year, provided this information about his his lifelong friend, Tom Miller:

Thomas Anthony Miller 1940 - 1989

One year after graduating from Saint Mary’s, Tom commenced his undergraduate studies at Kent State University September 1959. He graduated in June 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as Second Lieutenant, US Army.

Tom received a temporary deferment from active duty to pursue postgraduate studies. In June 1965, Tom again graduated from Kent State University with a Master of Science degree.

He then enrolled in Ohio State University’s doctoral program whereupon in June 1967 he received a PhD in entomology. Shortly thereafter Tom reported for active duty with the rank of Captain, US Army. Before his passing in February 1989, he attained the rank of full Colonel (O-6).

Tom Miller was a highly respected scientist and a published author of numerous scientific articles, some of which were published in “Scientific American” magazine.

I knew that Tom was a Phd and we started KSU the same year, I never saw him on campus more than twice. He was
quiet but so very nice, thanks Chet for the memories, so
grateful for the information.
