West Albany High School
Class Of 1973

Welcome to the West Albany High Class Of 1973 web site. If you have any questions about the site, you can contact the following individuals:

Karen (Hampton) Turkovich

Mason Lakowske

A quick note of explanation: The site contains only names of classmates - no address or email information has been entered. Due to privacy and other concerns expressed by several individuals (and the nature of privacy on the web these days) we have opted to let each classmate enter their own information if they wish to do so. (this site) will protect this information from search engines and other web-based mechanisms for finding information, but other classmates will be able to view it. If you have any questions, please contact Karen or Mason

The 1973 class reunion for West Albany High School is over.    I’m hoping that everyone who attended had a good time and either caught up with old friends or made some new friends. Pictures will soon be added to the All Reunion Picture’s section of our class website.

There are several thank you’s that I’d like to make.

First, thank you to JACK CRAY for stepping in to help with the reunion and suggesting the River Rhythm and Calapooia Brewing venues. Even though it was hot outside, there were approximately 15 classmates who were at Monteith Park enjoying the music of Sawyer Brown on Thursday, and a much larger crowd at the Brewery on Saturday. There were several attendees who had never been to the reunion and several more who had only been to one. JACK also purchased the banner that you can see in some of the pictures, secured the reserved tables at the park, and kept in contact with the brewery to guarantee our reservation for the outdoor area. JACK became a member of the reunion committee simply by asking about what plans had been made! His suggestions and planning efforts were truly appreciated.

I’d also like to thank JERI and VERN SABOE for inviting everyone to their beautiful home on Friday evening. Their generosity was truly appreciated, and they were great hosts. Without their invitation, Friday evening would otherwise have passed without any class contact.

Another person who played an important part in the success of the reunion was KAREN (HAMPTON) TURKOVICH. She supplied me with suggestions she learned from planning the past three reunions (along with LORI MILLER, JAN PRIVRATSKY, AND SHAREN HALSEY). Karen was also one of two website coordinators who helped to put the reunion notices out there.

MASON LAKOWSKE also assisted in putting reunion notices on the class website and took time to create a statistical report of website registered/unregistered classmates, and figured out who has legitimate e-mail addresses. MASON also sent the reunion notices to the registered classmates. Additionally, MASON listed some books and other resources that might have been of interest to those of you who planned to do some exploring while visiting Albany and provided a list of classmates who had invalid e-mail addresses, asking for assistance in locating new addresses.

Finally, thank you to the DEMOCRAT HERALD newspaper for publishing the reunion notice three times for FREE! All you have to do is ask!

Thank you to all of you who attended the reunion! Speaking for everyone who attended, I think they had a good time!

Have a great “rest of summer” and we’ll see you in 2023!

Patti (Voegele) Freauff, Co-Chair of 45th Class Reunion
