Paula Billman

Paula Jane Billman, age 38, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Paula was born August 2, 1969 in Ft. Hood, Texas. She moved to Allegan at 2 months of age. She grew up in Allegan and graduated from Allegan High School, class of 1987 and also from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, with a Bachelor of Arts. Surviving are Rebecca Steggerda, her partner of 10 years, of Holland; her mother, Kathleen (Havaich) Kibby and stepfather Ivan Kibby, of Allegan; father, Paul J. Beever, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; brothers, Martin and April Billman of Grand Rapids, David and Kimberly Billman of Holland, Ronald Billman of Ionia and Sarah Billman of Grandville, John and Amanda Billman, Allegan; step-sister, Catherine Wright of Hudsonville, step-brothers, Ivan II and Amy Kibby of Byron Center, Bud Kibby of Grand Rapids, aunts, Anne Marie and Robert Bartz of Allegan and Diane Havaich-Onken and Curtis Onken of Detroit; grandmother, Norma Billman of Allegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special people in her life, Karen Steggerda and Ava, Peter Steggerda, Logan and John. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Matthew and Katherine Havaich, and her uncle, Matthew K. Havaich. Paula adored her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved to play scrabble, scrapbook, parasail, sports, her cats, and shopping. She was a talented artist. She was employed by Shoreline Orthopaedic as a medical biller/coder. She also enjoyed working at Kohls Department Store. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan. Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen, Celebrant. Interment Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

We gathered at Paula's house in August 2007 for some food and good conversation.

Her smile lit up a room and her sense of humor was great, so sorry her life was too short.

We will miss you Paula.

I remember when we all got together last year and how happy she was to spend time with the people that had time for her. She will be missed dearly.
