On the morning of June 22 of 2018, Nicole Lynelle Ridge was found strangled to death in Chicago (far south side), Illinois, leaving behind her husband Laszlo Mrazik and her daughter Lindsey Hopper. She was one of the four victims discovered in Chicago between May and September 2018 which the Chicago Tribune believes to be part of a string of over 75 unsolved Chicago murders stretching back to 2001. The Chicago Police Department agreed to review a handful of the cases but balked at the idea of forming a task force. As of 2021, the murders still remain underinvestigated and unsolved with the serial killer still on the loose and no suspects identified.
