Susan M. Schmitz-Pierce, 62, of Herndon, VA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb 2, 2013, from a massive stroke, at Reston Hospital Center, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Alpena, MI on June 26, 1950.  On June 14, 1969, she married Paul M. Pierce in Alpena. 

She is survived by her husband, Paul; three sons, Geoff (Victoria) of Ashburn, VA; Jeremy (Heather) of Greenville, N.C., and Todd of Richmond, VA; two grandsons; sister Mary Jane (Larry) Thomson of Alpena, MI; mother and father-in-law, Edith and Fred Patterson of Glendora, CA; sister-in-law Darla (Errol) Burrow of Reno, Nev.; brother-in-law Tracy (Cyndee) Patterson of San Dimas, CA; two nephews and two nieces.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6-9 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA, and a celebration of her life will be held there on Friday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m.
