Dennis James Johnson, 69, of Alpena, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

Dennis was born on Feburary 15, 1950, in Alpena, to the late Kenneth and Dolores (Blemke) Johnson.  He owned and operated Denny's Painting for many years.  On August 19, 1972, he married Jean Schultz.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Optimist Club and was an active Boy Scout Leader and scoutmaster, including Troop 92, for many years.  He also was in the Besser Male Chorus.

Surviving are his wife, Jean, three children, Jacob (Allison) Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, and Jessica (Jesse) O'Neil; six grandchildren, Nathaniel LeTourneau, Allen Johnson, Hunter O'Neil, Ethan, Ellora and Estella Johnson; one sister, Debra (Bryan) Koval; mother-in-law, Norma Schultz and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gustav Schultz.

Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday with the funeral continuing on Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Alpena.
