Ruth passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010, from complications from diabetes and heart failure. She is survived by her husband, Howard, of Lake Stevens, Washington, where they lived. Ruth is also survived by a daughter and two sons. Ruth led a very productive life as an in-charge nurse assigned to the astronauts in the Gemini Space Program, and later as a surgical nurse for a renowned eye doctor. After retiring from nursing Ruth worked as an interior fashion director at the World Trade Center in Dallas. She later led the Children's Ministries at San Marino Community church in southern California. After relocating to Washington 25 years ago, Ruth turned her talents to interior decorating, owning and operating stores in Port Townsend and Sequim. Five articles were published about her homes in magazines across the nation. Ruth is deeply missed by her family and many friends. Rest in peace, Ruth.
Ruth was my big sister in nursing school, a wonderful person and a great nurse. It doesn't surprise me that she had such a rewarding career. My condolonces to the family.
My deepest sympathies for Ruth's family and friends. Ruth was my neighbor in Alton during our school years. Her backyard abutted my backyard... We were friends and walked to East Junior High, and AHS. I was very impressed with her accomplishments as posted by Tom Lynhadt, but not surprised. On our walks to school Ruth would often say what kind of life she wanted for herself after she left Alton...I believe she found that life, and LIVED IT TO THE FULLEST!!! I say , BRAVO RUTH. your friend and neighbor, George Nicolou
