George was a friend of mine. We spent a lot of time together going to the Alton High footbal games and basketball games. George was the first one in our group of friends to have a car, and he was the designated driver for his friends taking us to those sporting events and then the ARC...In those days gasoline was 19 Cents a gallon. There were 5 of us, and each of would contribute 25 cents , which purchased 6 gallons of gas.
