Amarillo High School Class of 1989, 30th Reunion
Can you believe it’s been 30 years since we graduated? We’ve come a long way since acid-washed jeans and big ol’ Texas hair … time flies for sure!
Whether you live in Amarillo and stay in touch with former classmates or live states away and keep up with a few old friends on Facebook, our 30th reunion is a great time to reconnect!
As you’ll see in the details below, we designed this reunion to be easy and casual. So mark your calendars now and join us this summer for a relaxed time of visiting and catching up.
Hope to see you there!
Friday, July 26, 7:00:
Hummers
2600 Paramount Blvd #B2
Chris Gilbert will coordinate our Friday evening event with the help of class of '88 alum Chris Simmons who owns Hummers and has offered to host our group for happy hour with some special Class of '89 drink specials. Hummers has lots of TVs, an outdoor patio, food, and music. Cost is on your own. Please let Chris Gilbert know if you will attend so he can RSVP for us.
Saturday, July 27, 6:30:
Cask & Cork
Caskncorkamarillo.com
5461 McKenna Square #101
$30 per person buffet if you RSVP by June 1, or $40 per person after June 1 and at the door; cash bar; information on how to pay will be posted soon and there will be a link to pay through our Class of 1989 website.
We have reserved the downstairs area and bar, but you may enjoy the live music upstairs throughout the evening at Amarillo’s only rooftop bar and lounge.
Other weekend details/information:
Amarillo High School will be under construction this summer, upgrading the auditorium, restrooms, commons area, etc., so we will not be able to have lunch or tour the school. However, while you are in town, we recommend taking a drive around the school and checking out the campus — it has changed some since 1989!
Feel free to coordinate a golf game or other activities with your buddies for Saturday during the day or brunch/lunch Sunday. Please share your plans to let others know on our Facebook page and class page so they can join you.
Tascosa and Caprock High Schools are also planning their 30th class reunions for the same weekend in July so this might be a great time to catch up with classmates from junior high school who attended another high school. Feel free to share any junior high-specific plans on our Facebook page and website, as well.
AHS 2019 Homecoming will pit our Sandies against the Raiders of Randall High School on Friday, Sept. 30. Our 30th reunion is a great time to plan a tailgate/dinner or group seating at the game, if someone is interested in coordinating that event.
On a side note, Amarillo has a new minor league baseball team — The Amarillo Sod Poodles. Unfortunately, they won’t be playing in town the weekend of the reunion, but feel free to take a drive downtown to check out the new stadium and other changes in the area if you haven’t been in downtown Amarillo recently.
Hope to see many of you this summer!
