I never knew that Jimmy Bean's first name was Clifford until I saw his obituary in the newspaper. When we planned the 35th class reunion, it was a laid back affair at my home. The Wednesday before the reunion, I got a call from Jimmy. He really wanted to come but because he was so sick he had no way to get there. I told him that we would find a way.
When everyone had arrived, I said "Jimmy Bean wants to come over. Does anyone want to go to the Towers and pick him up?" Several people jumped at the chance and off they went.
Here came Jimmy Bean, still the tallest in the group. He sat in a chair visiting with everyone and had the biggest smile. Everyone - to a person - recalls that day. It was the best gift we could have ever received. It made the reunion very special and it still makes my heart sing when I remember that day.
Clifford J. Bean passed away on January 4, 2006.
