Class Gift

Support our 50th Reunion Class Gift!

After much discussion and deliberation, the class of 1965 Reunion Committee decided that our 50th reunion class gift is going to be the 1965 Emergency Scholarship Endowment.  This endowment will be used to give deserving students additional financial support when they have an emergency and would otherwise need to withdraw from school due to their emergency.

There is currently a very large need in the Financial Aid Office for this type of funding.  Last year over 200 students came to their office looking for emergency funds and every year their office has less of these discretionary funds at their disposal.  The Class of 1965 Emergency Scholarship Endowment will ensure that this type of funding is available year after year for students who encounter these emergency situations.  For every $26,000 that we raise for this endowment, we will have $1,000 to disburse on an annual basis, in perpetuity.

In addition to supporting hundreds of students during a time of need, the class gift will also make a big difference in the final stages of the historic UMass Rising Campaign that will be ending in June 2016. This campaign is helping to transform the ways student learn on campus, is creating infrastructure that is crucial to increasing the quality of education at UMass, and is making the university accessible to students of all backgrounds. Part of the class of 1965’s legacy gets to be playing a fundamental role in meeting the goals of UMass’s most ambitious fundraising campaign ever.

We hope you will help us make this the most successful reunion ever and join the 1965 Reunion Committee in supporting our wonderful class gift.  As of May 14th, 152 donors have contributed $19,975 towards this initiative including 100% participation from the committee.
