Scott Douglas Wells, 60, died Feb. 12, 2012, in Spokane, Wash., after a fight against cancer.
Scott was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. His older brother Martin and wife Susan Briehl were with him in his final days, and Scott was at peace with his condition and turned himself over to his higher power.
He was born March 23, 1951, in Greeley, Colo.
Surviving are his daughter, Heather Martin of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Martin of Spokane, Wash., and Robert of Palmer; and many relatives from Fairbanks to Girdwood and in Colorado.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Leslie and Edith Wells.
Scott was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Anchorage.
An Alaskan since 1960, Scott graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1969. He was a starting tackle on the football team and also sang bass in the Anchorage Community Chorus. He attended college at the University of Northern Colorado and taught special education and blind students to ski.
He will be missed by friends and family in Anchorage, the Valley and in Sterling, where he made his home for a number of years. A chef and artist in many ways, he was also proud of his fish-charming skills.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a service at Hope Lutheran Church in Anchorage at 2 p.m., Aug. 25. The following day, his ashes will be returned to the earth at the family cabin on the Kenai River at 3 p.m. Directions will be available at the service.
