Inspired by Ray Anderson's history classes, I majored in History at William and Mary.
I went on to work at museums like the National Museum of American History. Then I started creating public programs for museums and preservation organizations, wrote history articles, books (Co-wrote the Legacy of Lincoln for The Idiots Guide series, I kid you not), as well as historic fiction. Also co-created two history documentaries, one of which aired on the History Channel. My favorite is still out there on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4bX97yU6VE.
My focus is on Civil War and Women's History. I've won some accolades, with the one closest to my heart the League of Women Voters' Award for making "a significant contribution to advancing the awareness of women's history". That's for you, Ray!
Other life is as a theatre director and producer and the Manager of my company, Run Rabbit Run Productions, Inc., which (born out of creating documentaries and history programs).
Thing of which I'm most proud is writing the concept and libretto of "Norton: A Civil War Opera" with Composer David Chavez ( https://dcmetrotheaterarts.com/2014/04/05/norton-civil-war-opera-loudon-lyric-opera/ ). That's the tops, thus far.
