Deborah Kay “Debbie” Newsome, 48, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born April 18, 1962, in Ashland, Ky., to Mary Lou Blair Vance of Ashland, Ky. and the late Carl Raymond Vance. Her husband, Mike Newsome of Catlettsburg, Ky., survives. She was a nurse manager at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. 

She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Lynn Hughes. 

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Shane Newsome and Chris Newsome, both at home; nieces, Alyssa McComas of Chicago Ill., Kelsey McComas of Lexington, Ky., Mary Vance of Nashville, Tenn., Hannah Vance of Nashville, Tenn., Carly Vance of Nashville, Tenn. and Nikki Newsome of Ashland, Ky.; a nephew, Jake Newsome of Ashland, Ky.; a brother, Gerald R. Vance and his wife Pam of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Kathy McComas of Ashland, Ky.; and her mother and father-in-law, David and Judy Newsome of Ashland, Ky. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Ed Cook. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, Ky. 

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at the funeral chapel.
