Marcia Galvin

MONTEREY, CA - Marcia Carlisle, 59, born July 24, 1949 in San Francisco, California, passed away April 3, 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from California State University in Chico, California. She moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1979.
Marcia was a skilled professional photographer. She expressed her love for life with her photography and it gave her great joy to share her photos with friends and family. She was a self-published poet, writing about love and just about any subject. Marcia was a very compassionate person and a mental health counselor. She loved women's studies, enjoyed meditation and nature, traveling, bike-riding, and taking long walks with her treasured dog, Rainbow. She was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 20 consecutive years and was a vital member of that community.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1957, and her father in 1982. She is survived by her step-mother, Joy Galvin; sisters, Merrie Van Syoc and Leslie Nakagawa; nephews, Kyle, Evan, Jay, Will; and many dear friends. Marcia requested that those who want to remember her give donations to the SPCA for Monterey County or a favorite charity.
