June 1, 1985 The Redwood Empire high school music field has lost one of its most active music instructors and performers to cancer. The music students and musical friends of Steve Braet, El Molino High School music teacher for 10 years, will hold a Memorial Concert at 6 tonight at El Molino High School, honoring Braet, who died Friday June 1 of a cancer only recently discovered in his body. "He was a good music instructor and a super-neat individual," Rowland Nielson, Ukiahi band director said today, in joining the high school musical world of the Redwood Empire in mourning the loss of a musical friend. Analy Union School District Teacher of the Year, Braet, 35, directed the El Molino concert band, choir, jazz band and jazz vocal groups, and saw his musicians score high in California Music Educators' Association (CMEA) ajudications annually.
