School Story:

I was never a "joiner" as my peers were and you'll never see me in any clubs. I had to walk to school and walk home every day to our home between Barnett Streets and North Highland on Highland View. I often did that with my best friends, Tim and Wayne Black and George Pefines. Tim and George both stayed after school and became famous football stars. I went off to Pickens County High School in Jasper, GA for my junior year after my parents bought some property in southeast Pickens County. My dad died halfway through that year and I returned to Grady for my senior year. A funny memory I recently recalled to my former Russian girlfriend was actually from my junior year when I was only six foot seven inches tall. I was in the homecoming court during the football season, only all the women were dressed in long gowns, except one. Complete with a wig and makeup, I was to be the fifth entrant who had a ten-year old boy as my escort. If there are any pictures to support that episode, they have been conveniently lost.

Comments:

I've "been up to 440 pounds and seven feet in height." Worked at Rich's Department Store downtown for several months before attending Dekalb Community College in Clarkston from January 1975 to March 1977. Four months after starting college, and having met thousands of great people, I met Jesus Christ and invited Him into my life to be my Lord and acknowledge Him as my Lord. I was involved in track and field and graduated with an Associate in Arts degree. After one quarter at Georgia State University, I moved to Boston to pursue street ministry and employment at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. I got married in 1979 and relocated to Atlanta, having four kids and living in Norcross. After 13 years of marriage, my wife "traded me in for a newer model (he was nine years younger than me), but he turned out to be a lemon!" She cashed him in after 3 years and took our 4 kids to Michigan in 1996. In 1997, I moved to Michigan to be with my children and help them through school. After seven years and seven cold, snowy winters, I relocated to Texas (Lewisville, north of Dallas - one year and Lubbock - Home of the Red Raiders - two years). When my oldest daughter, who had married a boy that joined the Army was relocated to North Carolina to be deployed to Iraq, I moved to stay with her and her two daughters, under the age of two, until Juan returned home a year later. When he did, I relocated to Atlanta to stay with my 90-year old mother in Sandy Springs. I've been here now for two years and Mom is still kicking. I got remarried in December 2010 but she divorced me in January 2014. Therefore, I'm single for the Lord now.

Happy birthday, Ann! I hope you have an awesome day. Today is my oldest sister's birthday, she's 71. It's also one of my grandson's birthday. He's 8. Just think, 61 years ago, your parents got to see you for the first time and your father probably said, "She's a keeper!" Your best years are now.

It's funny that you had your birthday on Cinqo de Mayo and my first marriage was started on that same day, yet neither of us celebrated it as such a great Hispanic relationship complete with Mexican food and festivities until much later in life. Your birthday is significant more so than just being the anniversary of your debut into the world: it's also the anniversary of the day you changed two people's lives and destinies since the day they chose to bring you into the world and nurture you into the woman we've all known and loved these few years. We honor those two, your mother and father forever and pray that the legacy of your ancestors continue on in the lives of Connor and Andrew as well. God bless you and that lucky man, Martin!

One of my best friends. I guess I have Facebook to thank for getting us reconnected, though his brother Greg and I have stayed in touch long before Facebook. Tim and Greg and Wayne, the youngest, and their parents were like my second family in some ways. Tim's mother gave me my second job out of high school, at Rich's Downtown, where she worked in the Personnel Department, Human Resources is the modern term. I thank God for all the memories of times with the Black family!

Happy birthday Mary. I wish great happiness on you today. Of course, we also honor a certain man and woman for the love they shared 63.75 years ago and thus became your mother and father forever. Their choice of life in you has changed the world for everyone and we are better as a result.

Happy birthday Mary Ann! I said everything I wanted to on Facebook and left it as "our secret." I meant what I said and believe that you are someone divinely placed in our lives as Esther was in the Bible: "for such a time as this." Have a very happy and enjoyable birthday today. God bless.

China's Crappy Fish: The Ultimate Rant against China's Crappy Fish

China is feeding us garbage-fed, sewage-fed fish and it's not getting stopped at the ports by the USDA, but ending up on our store shelves and eventually on our dinner plates. Using Snopes.com helped validate part of this message. Vegetarians are having a field day with their abolition of meat in the diet. Yet, farmers around America are being held to standards China doesn't adhere to and many local farmers have answered by shutting down. When is America going to say, "Enough!"? China has been dealing with health issues for years. Lead paint on children's toys and baby furniture was one such issue. Smog is another health concern in China that is responsible for destroying the earth's ozone and developing green house gases to accelerate global warming. Every country on the planet are guilty of injustices to their own citizens as well as the lives of others. Farm raised fish can be controlled and regulated better as well as providing better environment for the fish to grow.

Soothing sounds: Soothing Sounds of The Ocean

www.tallmanpromotions.com. Soothing sounds of the ocean hitting the beach at Pompano Beach, Florida. While my significant other was sleeping in at the beautiful Beachcomber Resort, I could hear the soothing sounds of the ocean from our balcony and had to get closer. Along with these soothing sounds of the ocean, we get a little glimpse of the sunrise. When you want to slip away after a hard day at work or having spent the previous hour or more in the hot summertime traffic of your metropolis, tune in to the soothing sounds of the ocean and let your cares drift right out with the tide.

Diet Roller Coaster: The Diet Roller Coaster Frustration

There are a lot of roller coasters in theme parks worldwide that excite people as they twist and turn and roll and plunge as their riders scream in horror and delight.

It doesn't seem to feel the same with trying another diet or weight-loss plan, though you might want to scream in horror when the weight comes back, and then some.
