Robert Sidney McLendon

McLENDON, Robert Sidney, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Sally Jackson McLendon; his sons, Robert Sidney McLendon, Jr. of London, England , and Thomas Jackson McLendon of Montgomery and Jason Rollins McLendon of Mobile and daughter, Ashley McLendon Parker of Montgomery. Also surviving are his sister, Faye McLendon Whidbee and brother, Rex Wayne McLendon, both of Auburn, Alabama. In addition survivors include his wife’s mother, Lucy Finley Jackson and his brother-in-law, James Thomas Jackson and wife, Sue Jackson, of Montgomery. After graduation from the University of Alabama, Bob served with the Strategic Air Command as a Command Pilot on B-52s in the Vietnam war. Later he served with Delta Airlines as a pilot until his retirement. Bob was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension where his funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. in Ascension Hall at the church. Officiating at the service will be The Reverend John Coleman, The Reverend Walter Broadfoot and The Reverend Mark Waldo. Honorary pallbearers are: Greg Borg, William Smith, John Sullivan, Wally Vaughan, Mike Bentley, Mark Froemming, Barry Stuman, Steve Humphrey, John Anzalone and Jimmy Reynolds.
