CHARLESTON, S.C. - Mr. Michael Patrick Verdi, 52, of Charleston, S.C., formerly of Auburn, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2010, in Charleston. Michael was a 1976 graduate of Auburn High School, a graduate of Cayuga Community College and Virginia Commonwealth College. He had resided in Charleston for the past eight years and was employed with the Charleston Place Hotel as banquet manager. Michael was an artist, inventor and was well known for his creative spirit with artistic and innovative ideas. He was born on Sept. 20, 1957, the son of the late Jules and Beatrice Brennan Verdi. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle; and is survived by his two sisters, Judy Health and her husband, Roy, of Auburn, Jacqueline Butera and her husband, John, of Auburn; and uncle David Brennan, of Auburn; nieces and nephew, Amanda, Amy and Andrea, and Wendy, Anthony and Anna; great-nephew, David Van Tassell; several cousins. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, in Holy Family Church, Auburn, with the Rev. Dennis J. Shaw officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
