AUBURN < Robert J. Lawler, 51, of West Lake Road, Auburn, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Auburn Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born in Auburn on Sept. 9, 1957. He was the son of John F. Lawler and June Whiles Lawler, of Auburn. He was employed for more than 30 years with Nucor Steel, where he worked as a quality assurance technician. Bob was a communicant of St. Mary"s Church, he loved snowmobiling, kayaking and camping with his family. In addition to his parents, Bob is survived by his fiancee, Brenda Bunn, of Auburn; his daughter Brittany Lawler, of Auburn; his sisters, Anne (Richard) Currier, of Auburn, Susan (Bernie) Guzewicz, of Alabama, and Kathleen Lawler, of Naples Fla.; a brother, Michael Lawler, of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews; and many great friends whom he cherished. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Peter Lawler. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary"s Church, Auburn. Burial will be in St. Joseph"s Cemetery, Fleming. Friends may call on the family from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St. Auburn. Bob will be best remembered for working from sun up to sun down fixing just about anything. He was always there to lend a hand to family and his scores of friends, whenever needed. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Robert Lawler to the American Cancer Society , 6725 Lyons St. East Syracuse, NY 13057 or to the Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn.
