PITTSBURGH | Janice L. Dec Bienkowski, 62, of Richland, passed away Jan. 27, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. The daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Mahunik) Dec, she was born June 3, 1953 in Auburn, N.Y.

Surviving are her children, Sarah (Ben) Maderia; and Michael Bienkowski; a granddaughter, Jolene Maderia, whom she adored. Sisters: Joyce (Bob) Klasen; Jacqueline (Joe) Massoth; and Joanne (Steve) Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice cared for and touched the lives of countless children and their families throughout the course of her career as a pediatrician. She loved her dogs, Trapper and Blizzard; as well as her cat, Callie. The last years of her life were spent caring for her granddaughter.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, PA, where the funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the Rev. Brian Warchola officiating. Entombment will take place at Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg, PA.
