AUBURN < Mr. Kenneth J. Wood, 55, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at home. Ken was born in Auburn, the son of the late Carl and Joanne Myers Wood. He was a graduate of Holy Family Parochial School, attended Mount Carmel High School until its closing and graduated with the first graduating class from Auburn High School. A retired N.Y. State Correctional officer with 22 years of service and was a member of the CERT Team at Auburn Correctional. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a former Auburn Youth Hockey Coach and a lifelong hockey fan always watching the Buffalo Sabres. He was always remembered with great fondness for his years at Brennan"s Flower Shop, and traveling with his parents. Surviving are his two sons, Justin J. Wood and Christopher A. Wood, both of Auburn; and their mother, Jill A. Wood, of Auburn; siblings, Jim Wood, of Houston, Texas, Jeanne (Steve) Deathridge, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Dan (Carol) Wood, of Chicopee, Mass., Martha (Tom) Marsden, of Weedsport, Joe (Kelly) Wood, of Agawam, Mass.; aunts and uncles, Glenn Wood, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Erna Mae Tannhill, Catherine Martin and Betty Lou Coffee, of Lindsay Okla., and Sharon Dunks, of Moravia; one great-aunt, Agnes Coyne, of Oneida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, in Holy Family Church, Auburn, with interment in St. Joseph"s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Farrell"s Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. Memorials may be made to the charity of one"s choice.
