In Memory Of

Jack Speno - Class Of 1979

AUBURN — Jack A. Speno Jr., 57, of Sherwood Road, Moravia, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.

Born in Auburn, he was the son of Jack A. Speno Sr., and the late Joy Buonocore, and was a resident of Auburn and the Auburn area. Throughout his life, he enjoyed nature and all natural things. His love for the outdoors caused him to gravitate toward working with wood; for that reason, he took joy in his life's work as a self-employed carpenter.

Jack loved all animals as if they were his children. He especially cherished his horses and dogs. He was very musically inclined and played many instruments, guitars, drums and the ukulele.

Jack loved bull riding and participated in many events around the area as well as within the War Memorial in Syracuse.

All of Jack's brothers were car enthusiasts. He was known for his knowledge and enthusiasm in that endeavor. The same enthusiasm was personified by his brother Joey, who passed away in 1997.

He is survived by his father, Jack A. Speno Sr.; a sister, Barbara J. Walsh (Michael); two brothers, John T. Speno (Tammy) and David E. Speno (Julie); a sister-in-law, Gina Speno; several nieces and nephews, Joe Gagliano (Lindsay), Jennifer Speno, Lauren (Jessica) and Alyssa Walsh, John, Erin and Justin Speno as well as Sarah Whitaker (Damien); and Kelly Castillo as a close and special friend. Jack possessed too many friends to mention. When he liked you, it was an eternal bond. Beside his mother and his brother Joseph "Joey" Speno, Jack was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Mildred Speno as well as John and Barbara "Betty" Buonocore.

Friends are invited to join the family for a mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours for Jack will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Cheche Funeral Home, 1778 Clark Street Road, Auburn. Contributions may be made in memory of Jack to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 41 York St. Auburn, NY 13021 or the Leukemia Society of Western and Central NY, 4043 Maple Road, Suite 105, Amherst, NY 14226.

Jack Speno Jr. was a caring, loving son, brother and uncle. He honored the needs of others before his own; most of all, he respected God's earth and the creatures of creation. He truly was one with them.
