Helen Liddle VIEW PROFILE

AUBURN — Helen D. Liddle, 100, daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth D. Liddle, of Schenectady County, died on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the Auburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

Helen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Albany State and a Master of Arts from Columbia University in New York City. After teaching in Schenectady County, Helen taught English at East High School and then Auburn High School, retiring in 1972.

A sister, Evelyn Elizabeth Coone, predeceased Helen in April 2008.

She is survived by four cousins: Andrea Mae Oliver, E. Jane Quick, Graig Byron Quick, and Catherine Quick. She is also survived by a nephew, Lon Alexander Coone, and a niece, Charlene Elizabeth William.

A life member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Helen first worked with the youth in her home church, the First Presbyterian Church of Princetown. Later in Auburn, she joined Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she became a ruling elder and also served as a deacon for many years. There she taught church school and was involved with the youth.

She enjoyed three summer vacations as a counselor with youth at Pilot Knob, Lake George, and later as a summer counselor in Bonanza, Ark.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St., Auburn, NY 13021, with the Rev. Patrick D. Heery presiding. All are welcome. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam, N.Y.
