I started writing poetry at the age of 17 and I now have four poetry books published on Amazon and in several independent bookstores.

Through this Pen

What touches a writer's soul as they begin to create,
expressions of emotions down on page.
What of the writing I feel so enlightened,
you know the poet never knows when the writing will quit writing.
I've spent many hours into daylight ink becoming the soul of my life.
So deep inside it seems to hide until pen and paper are in front of my eyes.
Then I even become curious about what I will write.
As I finish the poem I read it for the second time,
like so many this one blows my mind.
Creation of this one stops on this line.

In 11th. grade I was late so my father drove me to school. I forgot about the cigarette I was smoking in the car and walked down the hall to class smoking it. The principle and someone else was standing in the hall as I was passing by.
He said, "Barbara you don't realize you are smoking a cigarette do you?" then he laughed. I walked pass my class to the door outside and put it out. That woke me up and I was ready for the day. Lol
