Jo Ann passed away in September, 1995. Jo Ann and I were friends since kindergarden. She was married to Fred Halford and they had two children, Janice and Fred.
We were fortunate to have had time together in July of 1995,..We had a "3rd grade" reunion with our then teacher Ms Evelyn Karas...Our reunion was held at Karson's Inn on Holabird Avenue...There were about a dozen of us in attendance...little did I know that Joanne was ill at the time....but her usual self prevailed and we all had a good time reminiscing...I was so glad to have spent time with her...Rest In Peace
Jo Ann wrote in my yearbook: "Best of Luck to you Chris, I'll always remember our crazy times together, and yes, I'll remember you." Jo Ann, "61"
Of course I remember Jo Ann as well. She was rather tall, blond and had very light blue eyes. We were in many classes together and laughed our way through many of them. We dropped books together (funny!), bumped into people in the hallways together (really funny!), we chewed gum together, always in Mr. Ercole's class. We laughed at the wrong things, at the wrong times but never got into any trouble. I guess I could call Jo Ann one of my 'laughing buddies', truly one of the great treasures of life. We never forget those people whom we can laugh with, in many cases, over virtually nothing.
I'll be chewing a big wad of pink bubble gum, at the re-union in June, just for you - Jo Ann!
