Richard Adams* - Class Of 1975

Richard W. Adams, 43, of 120 First St., Shady Spring, formerly of Crab Orchard, died 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, from injuries he received in an automobile accident. Born April 10, 1957, at Beckley, he was the son of Regina Barr Adams of Crab Orchard and the late Richard Adams. Mr. Adams was an insurance salesman for United Benefits. He was a 1975 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, a 1980 graduate of Appalachian Bible Institute and an ordained minister. He was a former manager of Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny and Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. He was the former owner of Bicycle Shops in Beckley and Princeton and was an avid cyclist and golfer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Jones. Survivors include a son, Richard Steven Adams of Shady Spring; a daughter, Lauren Adams of Shady Spring; two brothers, Johnny Baker and wife, Mary Ann, of Richmond, Va., and Jimmy Baker and his wife, Lesleigh, of Crab Orchard; four sisters, Judy Ballard and her husband, James, of Beckley, Debbie Voloski and her husband, Tom, of Beckley, Carla Frame and her husband, James, of Sandstone, and Tonia Garcia of Beckley; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Beckley, with the Rev. Rick Metrick and Dr. David Carrico officiating. Emtombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Pallbearers will be Cliff McGlothlin, Dave McGlothlin, Timmy Brooks, Michael Bolen, David Carrico, David Bailey, Rusty Synder and Mike Hight.
