Thomas Venston Kelly, 48, of Ashwood Street, Beckley, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001. He was the son of Betsy Mason and the late Bennie V. Kelly. Tom was born and spent his life in Beckley, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1972. He was an employee of Sterling Smokeless Coal Co. and American Electric Power. An avid outdoorsman, Tom loved animals and being in the woods. Tom is survived by his daughter, Lori, and his granddaughters, Lauren and Sami Jo of Hico; his stepfather, H. Wayne Mason; stepchildren, Tiffany and Jeremy Scarborough of Beckley; two brothers, Bill and his wife, Libby, and their children, Todd and Kiley, of Shady Spring and Jim and his wife, Velvet, and their children, Vense and Sarah, of Huntington. Additionally, many aunts, uncles and cousins survive, including his special Uncle Bill and Aunt Chris Simpson of Melbourne, Fla. Tom was very moved by the recent tragedy in New York and Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers or food, the family would appreciate any donations be directed to the New York Firefighter 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 65858, Washington, DC 20035-5858. The body has been cremated and a memorial service celebrating Tom's life will be held in the near future. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley
