Mr. Winson Lee “Woody” Woodson, 56, of 510 Ewart Ave., Beckley, and formerly of Mount Hope, died Thursday, July 2,2009 of a sudden illness. Born February 4, 1953, in Sprague, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dometrius C. and Madeline Rogers Woodson of Sprague. Mr. Woodson was a disabled auto worker, a caretaker, gardener, an avid fisherman, and a member of the Woodrow Wilson High School Hall of Fame. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Woodson; sister, Charlene Woodson; great uncle, Frank Toney. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Robyn Carey Woodson of Beckley; son, Keith Branch (Twanna) of Beckley; daughter, Angela Williams of Lansing, Mich.; stepsons, Larry Palmer of Columbus, Ohio, Adrian Williams, Nick Jones, both of Lansing; stepdaughters, Lacresha Palmer of Columbus, Cassandra Williams, Felicia Scott, both of Lansing, Hope Curry of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Norvel Lee (Vanessa) Woodson of Beckley; sisters, Laverne Woodson Carter of Beckley, Lisha Woodson of Mt. Hope; special Mother, Sara B. Otto of Beckley; one granddaughter, Carlalla Keivonna Branch, and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating.
