Terry L. Winfrey, 46, of Ellison Avenue, Beckley, died at his home following a sudden illness. Born Nov. 22, 1955, at Mullens, he was the son of the late Frank O. and Lorene Gladys Mills Winfrey. Terry spent his childhood at Mullens, Egeria and Beckley; he was a 1973 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He had been a resident of Ellison Avenue for the past 10 years and attended West Virginia State College. Terry worked for Beckley Newspapers, and recently he worked as a home health aide. Terry enjoyed writing poetry, playing and teaching guitar. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lemuel and Martha Winfrey; and his maternal grandparents, Ira Lawrence and Bertha Jane Mann Mills. Survivors include his sister, Sharon Winfrey, and her son, Daniel Winfrey, both of Beckley. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James Colson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sam Mills Cemetery, Egeria. Friends may call from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Cousins will serve as pallbearers.
