GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sherman H. Webster, 59, of Greensboro, formerly of Beckley, was called home on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, following a short illness. Born Dec. 24, 1950, at Eden, N.C., he was the son of the late Alice Scales and George W. Webster. Mr. Webster was raised in East Park by his father and loving stepmother, Velmon Webster. He was a 1970 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Mr. Webster was a Vietnam Veteran and served as a cook and dietician at the Beckley VA Medical Center in Beckley. To celebrate his life and to continue his legacy is his former wife, children, grandchildren, sisters and brother, nieces and nephews and cousins. There will be no public viewing. Memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday, December 24, 2010 at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, 103 Mills Avenue, Beckley.
