Paul Sharpenberg* - Class Of 1976

Paul R. Sharpenberg, 46, [WWHS '76] of Mabscott, departed this life and entered into life eternal on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in a Charleston medical center. Paul was born April 24, 1958, in Morgantown, the son of Warren D. Sharpenberg and Grace Williams Sharpenberg. Paul was a member of Glen White Church of God. Paul was currently employed as office manager at Bays Inc. He was a graduate of Concord College with a degree in business administration and was a member and president of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at Concord. He also had a master's degree from the U.S. Sports Academy in Mobile, Ala., with a degree in sports management. He loved all sports. Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank Paul and Maud Sharpenberg of Morgantown; maternal grandparents, E.H. and Rosa Poage Williams of Marlinton; and a sister, Jane Lee Sharpenberg. Other than his loving parents, those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Alvada Farley Sharpenberg; a sister, Margaret Ann Bays and her husband, Jerry, and a brother, Thomas E. Sharpenberg and his wife, Debie. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Glen White Church of God with Dr. Daniel F. Boling, the Rev. Malcolm Brownlee, the Rev. Jesse A. Farley and David M. Griffis officiating. Entombment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. Music will be provided by the Glen White Church of God Choir, of which Paul was a member. Pallbearers will be Donald Brown, Donnie Peters, Kyle Handy, Troy Bailey, Duke Stover, Bill Daniel, Jack Bryant and Jerry White. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of the Glen White Church of God. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley. Arrangements entrusted to Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
