Phil Hancock* - Class Of 1973

Phil Wyatt Hancock, 56, of Beckley passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. Born July 20, 1955, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Lib) Hancock.

Phil enjoyed dirt track racing, golf, WV Mountaineers and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a 1973 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. For the last 14 years he was owner/operator of a delivery service business. Phil also worked as a construction worker in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, Phil is preceded in death by his grandparents and numerous other relatives.

Those left to cherish his memory include his best buddy and wife of 15 years, Tammy Hancock of Beckley; brother Doug Hancock of Daytona Beach, FL; aunt Marge Foster of Beckley; uncle G.V. Wyatt of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; aunt Louise Burdiss of Beckley; brother-in-law Rick Vance of Beckley; brothers and sisters-in-law Jerry and Debby Vance of Bradley and Kathy and Bryan Hylton of Beckley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and a host of friends.

Services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Glenn Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Sam Rahal, John Rahal, Kendall Moore, Mike Marion, David Plumley, and Pete Parrish will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, October 25, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Immediately following the services family and friends will continue to celebrate Phil’s life at 112 Pineridge Drive, Beckley.
