George Brown* - Class Of 1979

HOUSTON, Texas - George A. "Bug" Brown Jr., [WWHS '79] 43, of 9404 Islamorada Court, Houston, died at noon Monday, May, 17, 2004, in a Houston hospital following a sudden illness. Born Sept. 17, 1960, in Beckley, he was the son of George A.D. Brown and Ardelia Gore Brown of 217 Plumley Ave. Mr. Brown was a manager of Pied Piper Pizza in Houston. He attended Outreach for Christ Christian Center, Beckley, and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Scott; maternal grandparents, Lonnie and Florence Gore; and paternal grandparents, George and Clergy Brown. Survivors include his longtime companion, Jeannie Motley; his daughter, Natasha Brown of Beckley; two grandchildren, Desiree and Carleon Brown of Beckley; a brother, Alphonso Scott and wife, Beth, of Beckley; three sisters, Cynthia Steelman and husband, Eddie, Patricia Walker and twin sister Joyce Logan; three uncles, Bertrand Brown of Florida, Arthur E. Brown of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Gore and wife, Pearl, of Wilmington, Del.; aunts, Irene Clemmons of Wilmington, Alberta Mosley and Mary Gore of Pittsburgh, Pa., Juanita Fox and husband, Lewis, of Columbus, Ohio, Ella Gore of Glen Jean, Doris Gore of Beckley and Barbara Gore of Charleston; his best friends, Ernest Napper, Samuel "Nicky" Whittenburg and "Jimbo"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and co-workers. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Outreach for Christ Christian Center, 416 G St., Beckley, with the Rev. Thomas Steelman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call two hours before service Wednesday at the church. Services entrusted to Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.
