Stephen W. Evans, 52, of Mankin Avenue, Beckley, passed away peacefully at Beckley Appalachian Hospital, Sunday afternoon, June 15, 2008. Born in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry Keith and Betty Lee Evans. He grew up in Beckley and was a 1973 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Survivors include a brother, Harry Keith Evans Jr. and wife Marcia of Beckley; two nephews, Mark Evans and wife Kris and John Paul Evans, all of Beckley; a niece, Sarah Massey and husband Nick of Huntington, W.Va.; and a special friend, Crystal Henry of Beckley. Mr. Evans was a disabled industrial painting supervisor last employed in the shipyards of the Newport News area. Services for Mr. Evans will be today, Tuesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Deacon Don Wise of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church will preside. Burial will follow Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens; those wishing to attend the burial service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
