Gary Dorsey*

Gary Wayne Dorsey, 58, of Daniels, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2010, in a Beckley hospital following a sudden illness. Born March 21, 1951, in Beckley, W.Va., he was the cherished son of Fred and Etheline Pate Dorsey of Daniels, W.Va. Gary was a doting father to his two children, a loving son to his parents and a cherished sibling to his sister. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish, garden and work in wood crafting. He was a member of the young Thundering Herd Marshall University Football Team in 1970, he was inducted in the Woodrow Wilson High School’s Football Hall of Fame in 1991, attended the Crow Missionary Baptist Church, and had worked as a heavy equipment operator. Gary is now with his two loving brothers, Freddy Lee and Mark Stephen Dorsey who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his maternal grandparents, John and Ethel Pate, and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Ada Belle Dorsey. Those left to cherish his memory other than his parents, Fred and Etheline Dorsey, are his son, Chris Fotos and his wife, Susan Fotos, of Bentleyville, Pa.; a daughter, Chelsea Ann Dorsey of Beckley; a sister, Melodie Lynn Spencer and her husband Timothy of Grandview, and their son Scott Harris of Grandview, and a daughter, Jessica Severino and her husband Joey, and the twins, Marca and Myra of Beckley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Dennis Burks officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley, W.Va. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday. It was Gary’s wishes to be an organ donor.
