Paul Michael Dillon* - Class Of 1975

Paul Michael Dillon, age 53, of Beckley, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at his home. Born on November 10, 1956 in Beckley, he was the son of Betty Lilly Dillon of Beckley, and the late Lawrence Wallace Dillon. Paul was a disabled electrician, having been a former employee of Rees Electric for thirty years. He was a member of the Maxwell Hill Baptist Church, and was a fifth degree blackbelt karate instructor, having formerly taught karate at the Beckley YMCA. Paul was an avid Dale Earnhart NASCAR fan. He had made his home in Beckley his entire life. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Wallace Dillon Jr., and a sister, Rebecca Alice Bultema. Left to cherish his memory other than his mother include his wife, Gwen Mann Dillon; a daughter, Staci Hibbard and her husband David of Arnett, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Nycole Hibbard of Arnett; one brother, Gary Dillon and wife Dianna of Beckley; two step-children, Steven Birkelbach and his wife Amy of Shady Spring, W.Va., and John Birkelbach and his fiancé Raeann Bailey of Manhattan, New York; two step grandchildren, Mia Birkelbach of Beckley, and Cooper Birkelbach of Shady Spring; six nieces and nephews, Devon Bragg, Angie Pina, Rebecca Dillon, Matthew Dillon, David Lewis Bultema, Channa Calzone; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Dillon of Irving, Texas, 10 great nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, Smokey, (his pet) are also among Paul’s survivors. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Maxwell Hill Baptist Church in Beckley, with Pastor Ken Killen officiating. Friends may call thirty minutes prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Raleigh County Humane Society.
