Steven Edward Corey, age 50 of Beckley, passed away at his home on Monday, February 20, 2012, following a sudden illness. Born on December 4, 1961, in Beckley, he was the son of Edward and Rose Solomon- Waikem Corey of Beckley. Steven was a self employed master electrician, in which he repaired restaurant equipment. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Beckley, and made his home on Reservoir Road in Beckley with his parents. Steven was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, and was a graduate of WV Tech in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Corey, and an infant brother Edward Corey, by his special grandmothers, Virginia Waikem and Malakey Corey. Those survivors other than his parents, include a brother Mark Corey of Beckley and two children whom he reared Misty and Keith. The Funeral service will be conducted at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 211 S. Heber Street, Beckley, on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Father Samuel Haddad as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Wildwood Cemetery in Beckley. Friends may call at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with Trisagion prayers at 7:30 p.m. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
