BECKLEY - Michael Gene Hawley, 40, of Beckley died Oct. 11, 1999, in Virginia Beach, Va., after a sudden illness. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a former employee of Burgess Pic Pac and Phillips Machinery. He was a Navy chief petty officer during the Persian Gulf War. Surviving: father, Bobby Hawley of Glen Daniel; mother, Eleanor Smith Hawley of Shady Spring; paternal grandfather, Ralph Hawley of Glen Daniel; maternal grandmother, Ruth Smith of Fairdale; brothers, Steven of Glen Daniel, David of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Crystal Gill of Stanaford; two nieces. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with the Rev. Gordon Ross officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with military rites by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill.
