TEMPE, Ariz. - John "Johnny" Ottavio Monty II, 51, of Tempe, formerly of Beckley, passed away on Sunday, October 14th, 2012. John was born on February 16, 1961 to John and Donna Monty of Beckley. John graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley. John married Elizabeth Joane Bryant (of Beckley) in Beckley, in 1983. His cherished daughter, Gillian Rose Monty was born in 1998 in Tempe. Johnny cherished his family and his dogs, Henry, Bailey, and Lily, and had many good friends throughout his life. Johnny founded and operated Monty Brothers Maintenance Company for over 25 years. Johnny found great joy in his work and his employees, in fishing and hiking the mountains of the western US, and in traveling home to WV for visits. His kind heart, warm smile, and good works will live on in everyone he left behind. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joe and Clara Monty and his uncle and aunt Luis and Elena Monty, immigrants to the US from Auronzo, Italy in the 1920's. His maternal grandparents, Julius "Pete" and Iva Barker of Phoenix, AZ. John leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Elizabeth, daughter Gillian Monty, parents John and Donna Monty, brothers Tim (Kathy) Monty,and Greg (Francoise) Monty, sister Tiziana (Scott) Monty Frey, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, Ariz., 480-967-2104 on Sunday afternoon, October 21 at 4 p.m.
