Edwin Ray “Eddie” Pauley* - Class Of 1976

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Edwin Ray “Eddie” Pauley, 54, formerly of Beckley, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his residence. He was born September 8, 1958, in Winfield, Ala., the son of the late Rev. George Elden Pauley Sr. and Dorothy Riggs Pauley. Eddie was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, attended Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn., and Beckley College. He also served his funeral apprenticeship with Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley. He had previously worked at Kroger’s in Beckley and at Bi-Lo, The Daily Independent and Family Dollar Store before retiring due to ill health. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Eddie was a sports enthusiast, especially a West Virginia fan and an avid Nascar fan. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church in Kannapolis, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m., officiated by Pastors James Pauley, Roger Pauley and Scott Pauley. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Cranberry Baptist Church, 201 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, from 6 to 8 p.m. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited to meet at Cranberry Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday to proceed to the mausoleum. He is survived by his daughters, Hannah Elizabeth Pauley and Emily Ruth Pauley, both of Kannapolis, the mother of their children, Jennifer Pauley of Kannapolis; three brothers, George Elden “Sonny” Pauley Jr. (Florence) of MacArthur, W.Va., James Pauley (Nancy) of Mooresville, N.C., Roger E. Pauley (Marcia) of Mt. Hope, W.Va., a sister, Janet Toney (Gary) of Oak Hill, W.Va., three nephews and two nieces.
