John Furrow* - Class Of 1978

John D. Furrow, 42, of Beckley, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, following a sudden illness. Born July 25, 1960 in Beckley, he was the son of James L. and Ruby Williams Furrow of Mabscott. Mr. Furrow was employed by HAZMAT as an operating engineer. He was a member of the U.S.S.S.A. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, and was an avid softball player. He was a 1978 Woodrow Wilson High School graduate. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lonnie and Tellie Williams; and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Blanche Furrow. In addition to his parents, he will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Hariette Scarborough Furrow; two sons, Jason Jon Furrow and Jordan Furrow, both at home; four brothers, Jimmy Furrow of Nashville, Tenn., Willie Furrow and wife, Kim of Morgantown, Keith Furrow and wife, Terri of Cool Ridge and Eugene Furrow of Mabscott. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. F.D. Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert L. Harold, Brian Mooney, Steve Martin, Brad Hurt, Arthur Davis, Nick Fleece, John Parkulo, Tim Patterson, Spanky Francis, Bobby Tolliver and Paul Smith. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
