Cynthia Denise Banks* (Berry) - Class Of 1973

ABERDEEN, Md. - Cynthia "Niecee" Berry, 45, formerly of Stanaford, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, following a short illness. Born July 27, 1956, in Stanaford, she was the daughter of Lillian Greene Banks of Stanaford and the late Leroy Banks. Mrs. Berry worked for McCormick Spices as human resources secretary. She was a member of New Era Baptist Church, Stanaford, where she was Sunday school secretary. She was a 1973 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended West Virginia Tech. In 1980 she moved to New York, where she was employed by People Magazine. In 1988 she joined the U.S. Army. Other survivors include her husband, Ronald Berry; a brother, Wayne Banks of Stanaford; two sisters, Debra Moore of Richmond, Va., and Toneta Claytor of Stanaford; her stepmother-in-law, Ernestine Berry; fathers-in-law, Ronald Berry Sr. of Florida and Lewis Pierce of Darlington, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Mignonette Simmons, Theresa Berry and Stephanie Pierce; five brothers-in-law, Darrell Claytor, Rob Berry, Mel Pierce, Juan Simmons and Steve Pierce; and a host of other relatives and friends. Service will be 7 p.m. Saturday at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, 333 S. Parke St., Aberdeen, with the Rev. Ronald Berry Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Berkley Cemetery, Darlington.
