CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — James Patrick French, 56, of 708 Atlanta Ave., Carolina Beach, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, in New Hanover Hospital, Wilmington, N.C., following a long illness. Pat was born Aug. 26, 1953, to Warren G. and Betty Sue Fitzpatrick French. He spent his childhood in MacArthur and Beckley, attended Greenbrier Military School and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Preceding him in death were his father in 1995; his mother in 2006 and an infant brother, John David in 1942. Survivors include his wife, Robin Furr French; a son, Patrick Shane and his girlfriend, Amanda Miller; a sister, Jeanie Darnell and husband, Tom of MacArthur; brother, Warren of Rockingham, N.C.; nephews, Tommy and Dr. Tom Darnell and wife, Patty of Winston Salem, N.C.; Warren III and wife, Julie of Drexel, N.C.; Tracy and his wife of Ohio and great nieces, Caroline Darnell and Emily, Erica and Charlotte French. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branch View Drive, Concord, N.C. with the Rev. Marvin Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Caroline Memorial Park, Concord, N.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before services, from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.
