William Houston Moore* - Class Of 1973

DUBLIN, Ohio - Bill Moore, 47, died early Sunday morning, May 5, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, of complications from injuries received in an accident at his home in Dublin. Born March 19, 1955, in Beckley, he was the son of Jean Gardner Moore and the late Woodrow H. "Woody" Moore. Bill was a 1973 honor graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He spent most of his professional life as a corporate real estate developer, working for Family Dollar General Stores at the time of his death. Bill was also an avid NASCAR fan. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles Walter Gardner and Peggy Gardner Adkins; his paternal grandparents, George "Marley" Moore and Myrtle Deal Moore, and a special neighbor, Mrs. Janet Smedley, who was like a second mother to the Moore family. Other survivors include his wife, Carol Parton Moore, and their children, Aaron and Kristin Moore, both at home; his brother, Danny Joe and his wife, Sheri Gray Moore, and their daughters, Amanda and Sarah, of Beckley; his sister, Kathy Moore Pittman and her husband, Ron, and their children, Daniel, Josh and Katie Rose, of Athens, Ohio; and special family friends, Doug and Teresa Cox of Mount Tabor. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodyard Funeral Home, Dublin, with the Rev. Norman Coleman officiating. Friends may call 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Danny Joe Moore, Doug Cox, Ron, Daniel and Josh Pittman, and Harry Hardin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the United Methodist Temple's building fund for its new Christian Living Center.
