Bobby Joe Ball* - Class Of 1971

BOBBY'S OBITUARY

Bobby Joe Ball, age 65, of Sprague, WV, peacefully went into the arms of Jesus at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Born on March 25, 1953 in Beckley, he was the son of Margaret Louise Pittman Ball of Beckley and the late Freeland Ball, Jr.

Mr. Ball was a retired coal miner with 45 years of service and a member of the House of Worship on South Kanawha Street in Beckley.  He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and is now getting his reward after a long hard battle; now he is free.

Mr. Ball enjoyed spending time with his family and working.   He was a brave, strong and loving man; a devoted husband and a great dad.  He was an awesome provider for his family his entire life. Mr. Ball found much joy being around his grandchildren. He was a rare man that was the most pure, a true example of what a husband, daddy, pawpaw and friend should be.

Mr. Ball was a good Samaritan, compassionate, never one to judge, and always giving a helping
hand. He had the most friendly and warming smile, along with the most beautiful blue eyes. Mr. Ball was a wise man in many aspects of life.  "Honey, you will forever be missed and will be in my heart forever".

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ball was preceded in death by son, Bobby Joe Ball, II; two brothers, Freddie and Harvey Cook and by a sister, Judy Cook.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Sherry Stover Ball; a son, Jeremy Ball and wife Joyce (who was also like his daughter) of Beckley; two grandchildren, LaneAnn and Jeremy Lane Ball II; brothers, Bill Cook of Sprague and Freeland Ball III and wife Reba of
Roanoke, Virginia; two sisters, Karen Lee and husband David of Fincastle, VA, and Donna "Potzy" Ball of Sprague.   Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel on Monday, March 11, 2019 at noon with Pastor Mitch Alkire and Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ball, Jeremy Lane Ball II, Jason Burgess, Jerry Wayne Burgess, Lacy Haydon, and Danny Summers.
