John Wayne Gallaher Sr., a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24 2012, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley of a short illness. John was born February 23, 1954, at Mullens, Wyoming County General Hospital, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wallace Gallaher, his step-father, Sam C. Ramey, his mother, Norma Jean Ramey and grandparents, Hazel Warden, Ray Warden, C.O. Gallaher and Christina Gallaher. John was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Throughout his career he was employed by Ramey’s Amoco, Summit Supply, Beckley Welding and worked several years at Ideal Supply. John is survived by one son, John Wayne Gallaher Jr., his son’s wife Alicia and their son John Corey Harrison Gallaher, all of Daniels. John Corey was the newest member of John’s family of which he was so proud. He is survived by two sisters: Sharon Flanagan and companion, Dave Sweazy of Sophia, Cindy Dilorenzo and husband, James (Pally) of Monroe, Ga. John is survived by one brother, Gerald (Jerry) Ray Gallaher and wife Barbara of Houston, Texas. John is also survived by three nieces, Kelly, Heather, Taylor; eight great nieces; three nephews, Mark, Justin, Jay, and one great nephew, Stephen. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28th, 2012, at Melton’s Mortuary, Beckley. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the services on Saturday at Melton’s Mortuary of Beckley. Pallbearers will be John’s friends. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
