Robert Commodore Fleshman* III - Class Of 1971

Robert Commodore Fleshman III, 48, of Beckley, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, following a sudden illness. Born April 15, 1953, in Beckley, he was the son of Jo Covey Fleshman of Old Mill Village and the late Robert C. Fleshman Jr. Mr. Fleshman spent his childhood in Crab Orchard and was a 1971 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He lived in Orange, Calif., for six years, moving back to Beckley in 1976. He was former owner of Commodore Hair Design on Johnstown Road and was most recently employed at Beckley Welding Co. He attended Mountain State University and Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member of the BYKOTA Sunday School Class. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert C. Fleshman Sr. and Virgie Fleshman; and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Sadie Covey. Other survivors include his companion Rebecca Chatfield; three special aunts, Lee Covey of Naples, Fla., Lyn Covey of Akron, Ohio, and Blanche Campbell of Beckley; three uncles, Ken Covey of MacArthur, Roy Covey of Paw Paw and Cethus Fleshman of Beckley; and several cousins. Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Paul Blizard officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call noon until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
