James Alexander "Jim" Walton*, Sr - Class Of 1973

James Alexander "Jim" Walton, Sr., 47, of 107 Brooks St., Beckley, died Thursday, October 4, 2001 at home after a long illness. Born August 14, 1954 in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of Gloria A. Gilliam Walton and the late Roy L. Walton, Sr. He was a retired caretaker of Greenwood Memorial Park where he worked for over 25 years. He was baptized at the age of 8 and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Walton in 1972. He graduated from WWHS in 1972. He also attended Vo Tech. He is survived by his wife, Debra Walton; two sons, James Jr., (Quindora W.) and Derek A. Walton, both of Beckley; two daughters, Stacy N. Walton and Erica J. Walton, both of Beckley; six brothers, Roy L. (Linda) Walton Jr. of Fairmont, Robert (Janet) Walton Sr. of Stanaford, Nathaniel (Tammy) Walton of Baltimore, Md., Paul (Mary) Walton of Greensboro, N.C., Michael Walton of Raleigh, N.C., and Jason D. Walton of Beckley; eight sisters, Ms. Verblena Walton of Harrisburg, Pa., Mrs. Alice (Robert) Nelson of Oak Hill, Ms. Veronica Walton, Mrs. Julianna (Gary) Sweatte, Mrs. Gloria (Ronald) Thompson, Ms. Diana Walton, Ms. Lisa Walton, Ms. Daisy Walton, all of Beckley; eight grandchildren, Octavia, Jarah, Kadaja, Javia, Kiera, Juwan, Jada and Tyriek, all of Beckley; five aunts, Amy, Jessie, Alma, Hazel and Ida Mae; three uncles, Kenny, Ralph and Raymond; devoted friends, Vanessa Rhodes and Lamont Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church, Beckley, with the Revs. Aaron Hairston and Robert I. Brown officiating. Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church on Monday, Oct. 8, 2001. Arrangements by Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Home, Beckley
